Witness the festivities of Dev Diwali, the “Festival of Lights of the Gods” when all the ghats are lit with more than a million diyas, earthen lamps in honour of River Ganga. It is believed that the gods descend to Earth to bathe in the Ganges on this day.

DAY 1
Arrive Varanasi, Embarkation - Cruising Downstream (L, D)

Arrive in Varanasi and transfer to Namo Ghat for embarkation. Enjoy lunch onboard.

Varanasi is one of the oldest and most fascinating cities in India. With its array of shrines, temples, and palaces, rising in several tiers from the water’s edge, Varanasi is the holiest city for Hindus.

Later, start sailing downstream to witness the diverse life along the various Ghats. Enjoy the changing scenes as you move from one Ghat to the next.

Dinner & overnight onboard Bengal Ganga.

DAY 2
Varanasi – Cruising Upstream (B, L, D)

Morning sail upstream and arrive at the Ghat which serve as a doorway to Vishwanath Temple. Stroll in the Vishwanath Gali (street), and experience the hustle and bustle of devotees and road side vendors. Visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple for “Darshan” and offering prayers to Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of the city. Return to the ship by midday and enjoy lunch onboard. Today is Dev Diwali. The steps of all the ghats along the riverfront of the Ganges River are illuminated with more than a million earthen lamps in honor of the river and its presiding goddess. Being in Varanasi on this day is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We will also see the “Ganga Aarti” performed by a group of priests lined up on the riverbank chanting mantras and performing the prayer ritual with lamps, incense, and traditional instruments to honor the river. Return to the ship. Dinner & overnight onboard Bengal Ganga.

DAY 3
Varanasi (B, L, D)

After breakfast we will visit Sarnath, the seat where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment in Bodhgaya. Visit the local bazaar for shopping the famous “Banarasi” silk, muslin, perfumes, and other handicrafts that Varanasi is famous for. Return to the ship. Dinner & overnight onboard Bengal Ganga.

Following breakfast disembark the ship (Disembarkation: 09:00 Hrs). Transfer on your onward journey.
